Pizza Dough
Arguably one of the most favorite dinners in our house is pizza! But you can't just buy a frozen food option and be satisfied. This simple, family pizza dough recipe has been handed down for the past 30 years. Hope you like it!
Ingredients
-
4 cups flour ('00' Pizza flour if possible)
-
1 ½ cups warm water (room temp)
-
1 teaspoon yeast (½ a packet of instant yeast)
-
1 teaspoon sugar
-
3 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin
-
1 teaspoon kosher salt

Prep Time: 1 hour - 24 hours

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: Depends

Yield: 2 - 3 large dough balls
Directions
-
Bloom the yeast - In your measuring cup, add the sugar to the room temperature water. Mix until sugar is fully dissolved. This will feed the yeast.
-
Add the yeast to the water and mix lightly until all the yeast is hydrated. Let sit for 10 minutes.
-
Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Create a well in the middle, and add the yeast/water mixture as well as the olive oil.
-
Lightly mix until all flour is combined and hydrated. Transfer mix to a flour coated counter space to knead.
-
Knead dough - This is one of the most important steps. Knead dough for AT LEAST 10 minutes. Set a timer to make sure. Your arms will get tired, but this is very important for the consistence of the dough.
-
Once fully kneaded, roll dough into a large dough ball. Clean and oil your large bowl. Transfer dough ball into oiled bowl and turn over so entire dough ball is covered in oil.
-
Cover with plastic wrap and let sit, unrefrigerated, for at least 1 hour. The longer it sits, the more it will rise and become fluffier and better in the end. 24-hours is ideal, but 1 hour will work.
-
Before using, knead the dough again for 2 minutes. Roll out into pizza shape, and get started on your pizza design!
