Crockpot French Dip

Packed with tender beef and melty cheese, this sandwich is hearty, satisfying, and so easy to make!

Ingredients

  1. 3-4 lb. chuck roast

  2. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder

  3. 2 tablespoons butter

  4. 1 onion, sliced

  5. 2 tablespoons minced garlic

  6. 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  7. 12 oz. beer - dealer's choice

  8. 1 package of Au Jus

  9. 1.5 cups beef broth

  10. Sub rolls

  11. Mozzarella cheese

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 6 hours

Total Time: 6 hours and 20 minutes

Yield: 8 or so sandwiches

Directions

  • Season the chuck roast on all sides with salt, pepper and garlic.

  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear chuck roast on all sides

  • Put seared chuck roast in a crock pot. Pour 1.5 cups of beef broth over the roast.

  • Add sliced onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, beer, and Au Jus packet to the hot skillet, stirring and letting simmer.

  • Pour the onion and gravy mixture over the roast in the crock pot and let cook for 6 hours minimum on high. 

  • Shred the meat and discard any floating or leftover fat.

  • Build sandwiches with the meat and top with mozzarella cheese. Put in oven on BROIL for 1-2 minutes to melt and crisp the cheese. 

  • Serve with strained Au Jus mixture for dipping!
