Homemade Meatballs

Take the time to make these homemade meatballs instead of buying premade, and your family will love you forever!

Ingredients

  1. ½ pound 80/20 ground beef

  2. ½ pound spicy Italian sausage

  3. ½ cup seasoned breadcrumbs

  4. â…“ cup milk

  5. 1 small onion, diced

  6. 4 cloves garlic, diced

  7. 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  8. 1 tablespoon ketchup

  9. 1 tablespoon mustard

  10. 1 egg

  11. 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  12. 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  13. 1 teaspoon sea salt

  14. 1 teaspoon black pepper

  15. ½ teaspoon each; cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Yield: 20'ish meatballs

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and Italian sausage by hand until uniform.

  • Add the milk, egg, ketchup, breadcrumbs, mustard and Worcestershire sauce to meat, and continue to mix by hand until everything is combined.

  • Add the spices, garlic and onion, and again mix together until uniform.

  • Add olive oil to a large sauté pan and turn to medium heat.

  • Roll meatballs into desired size and place into pan to crisp the outer layer. This should take roughly 3-5 minutes, turning continuously to make all sides evenly cooked.

  • Transfer meatballs from pan to oiled cookie sheet. 

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or so. Check the temperature. You want to see about 160 degree F internal temperature.

  • -Optional- Add meatballs to your marinara sauce and simmer for an extra flavorful creation!
